  • JOB SUMMARY
    The Service Engineer plays a primary role in achieving Polaris Slingshot’s customer-centric vision through collaboration with internal and external partners. The Service Engineer actively participates in all new product development activities, evaluates vehicle serviceability during design, and advocates for adjustments to improve ease of ownership and maintenance for our customers and dealers. The Service Engineer also supports field escalations for technical/dealer cases, coordinates all field campaigns related to released products, and manages a variety of cross-functional projects to ensure timely and successful completion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead the serviceability and maintainability aspects of new product development

  • Lead project teams to deliver service readiness and support for Polaris Slingshot products
  • Advocate on behalf of customers and dealers to incorporate serviceability into product design
  • Lead the development of diagnostic tools/flowcharts for dealership technicians to use
  • Complete detailed analysis of new products corresponding to each Gate Review; publish and present Serviceability Specification with each new Model Year
  • Collaborate and influence across teams (Design Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering) to eliminate service concerns during design
  • Maintain expertise about new product development, service technologies, and manufacturing, quality, and design processes
  • Ensure flat rates are available for new products and that they are kept up to date for all products
  • Serve as the primary contact for all Indian Motorcycle serviceability and maintainability issues
  • Provide input and connect cross-functional teams to create detailed and accurate Owner’s, Service, and Parts Manuals
  • Lead development of special tools required to service Polaris Slingshot
  • Work with Electrical Engineering to ensure diagnostic software is updated to support new and existing products
  • Attend and be an active member of all Indian Motorcycle product team meetings

2. Lead bulletin/field campaign execution and service related communications

  • Represent the Service Department in Post Sales Surveillance activities to identify potential product issues
  • Think critically to identify root causes and repair procedures for field issues
  • Communicate across the organization to keep teams informed of issue status
  • Manage all aspects of the Bulletin Field Execution Process
  • Provide assistance to resolve escalated customer and dealer inquiries
  • Report on and monitor field campaign completion rates

3. Other

  • Partner with Owner Connections to ensure timely and effective resolution of escalated customer issues, and apply customer feedback to future design
  • Communicate with customers and dealers in a highly personalized way; fluidly adapt to changes in conversation direction
  • Act as a unifying voice to facilitate problem solving, research, and dispute resolution between Polaris Slingshot dealers, Dealer Services, Field Sales, and customers
  • Obtain an industry leading position in PP100 (for serviceability) and dealership service NPS scores
  • Lead special projects to continuously innovate and deliver a high quality service reputation for Indian Motorcycle
  • Work within the Technical Service and Warranty team to standardize service processes
  • Maintain comprehensive service knowledge of Polaris Slingshot products
  • Other responsibilities, as assigned

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 5 - 7 years of Engineering experience
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Cross-functional influencing capabilities
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, varied environment with a commitment to delivering results
  • Proficient at Excel and data presentation
  • Project management experience
  • Strong product and industry knowledge
  • Customer contact and knowledge of retail service operations
  • Strong mechanical background and practical experience
  • Experience in the manufacturing environment
