What you will do

As Service and Installation Technician, you will be responsible for providing our customers with the best service to solve their problems.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to handle both service requests from existing customers as well as manage new installations of our capital equipment systems and visit facilities of customers throughout all industries. About 75% travel is required.

You will:

  • Perform necessary service, preventative maintenance, repairs, replacements, installations, or re-building of components to restore equipment to safe and proper operation
  • Build positive professional relationships with clients, contractors and associates
  • Assists other Territories Technicians in the installation of new systems on large projects.
  • Keep track of item inventory in company vehicles and order any necessary items when planning for upcoming projects.
  • Confirm that the packing lists include all required components.
  • Maintain an organized and clean working area.

You will report directly to the Operations Manager. You will work closely with the Senior and Regional Sales Managers located throughout the South, West, Midwest & Northeast territories for details on upcoming projects and any service-related questions. The position is based in Bolingbrook, Illinois. In this role, you are required to act according to the Piab Code of Conduct and know and follow the Piab values, mission, and routines.

We are looking for

  • Excellent English skills – verbal and written
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Ability to read a tape measure, use hand tools, and most power tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic diagrams to identify and install new crane systems
  • Ability to work independently at times and proceed with objectives without supervision.

Experience and Educational background:

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • 2+ years in a construction-related industry
  • Industry experience is preferred but must be mechanically and technically inclined.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures with the construction field
  • Operate Forklifts, Scissor Lifts & Pallet Riders

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level/or Inclined surfaces for certain periods through the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • Physical Demands: Employee is occasionally required to lift 75 lbs.
