Corporate Functions IT Analytic Platforms and Services is actively searching for a Senior to Principal Level Data Engineer to join our team. You will join a team focused on enabling data science and analytics for the enterprise. In this role, you will support Power BI content creators and consumers, manage/administer our Power BI environment, and complete data engineering efforts to drive continuous innovation. As a member of our Agile team, we’re looking for an organized self-starter who is passionate and excited to learn and apply the latest technologies focused on data analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Power BI environment for the enterprise by enabling new features, evangelizing best practices, resolving issues for users, and working with Microsoft when additional support is needed.
- Ensuring Power BI gateways for the Corporate strategic business unit meet performance and availability SLAs.
- Encourage a data-driven culture by engaging business colleagues and customers to address their technical challenges and ensure quality through collaborative design and development.
- Have a business value-driven perspective with regards to understanding of work context and impact - interact with customers to gather and define requirements.
- Develop data engineering solutions with code and/or using cloud services; work with data in a variety of formats across structured and unstructured sources (JSON, files, databases, etc.)
- Identify and recommend appropriate continuous improvement opportunities.
- Develop solutions in an Agile environment.
- Demonstrate technical architecture skills with ability to handle multiple activities in a dynamic environment.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Power BI development, performance tuning and distribution
- Experience with Power BI tenant and gateway administration
- Experience with ETL and data modeling techniques
- Experience writing/editing DAX
- Familiarity with cloud-based analytic services and technologies
- Familiarity with big data concepts
- A strong focus on customer success
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform
- Knowledge of Azure and AWS offerings
- Knowledge of data management, reporting, and analytics
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Generally 5 to 7+ years of professional experience.
- Proficient in two or more programming languages and tools; knowledgeable in new and emerging technologies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills combined with a desire to teach and mentor others
- General knowledge of a business function(s) and business operations.
- A thorough grasp of IT concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture and technical standards, shared software concepts and layered solutions and designs
- Experience working in an agile environment utilizing Scrum or Kanban
- Must be proactive, demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker.
- Consultative skills, including the ability to understand and assist in applying customer requirements, including drawing out unforeseen implications and making recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirements.
- Understanding of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, and incremental delivery.
- Collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required.
