Job Description

We are seeking a Software Engineer to fulfill the position of System Software Test Engineer for the Mission Assurance (MA) Department in support of the development and sustainment of the U.S. Navy Aegis Weapons System in Moorestown, NJ.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Analyze system and software requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure mutual understanding of requirements.
  • Write manual and automated tests to assess features based on requirements.
  • Prepare materials for and conduct engineering technical reviews.
  • Resolve issues with manual and automated tests.
  • Execute manual and automated tests.
  • Document identified issues with the software, hardware, and related systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis of identified issues.
  • Capture debug and diagnostic information.
  • Record test status and software quality metrics.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • US Citizenship to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Ability to work on-site and in equipment laboratories; support testing which may occur outside regular business hours, weekends, and holidays; and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional collaboration, spoken, written, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook); and performing work in accordance with policies, processes, and standards.
  • 5-7 years’ experience with software test life cycle, testing concepts, and various types of tests; analyzing requirements for testing or implementation in software; conducting user level system and software troubleshooting; gathering system and software debug information; performing root cause analysis of issues; and Unix/Linux environments.
  • 5-7 years’ experience developing software using Python, Java, C, C++, or other high-level programming languages; writing, executing, and maintaining manual and automated tests; and maintaining automated tests and their related frameworks.

Preferred but Not Required Experience:

  • Aegis Weapons System or other real-time mission critical systems.
  • DDS, NDDS, OpenDDS, or other publish/subscribe architectures.
  • CI/CD and DevSecOps methodologies and tools.
  • SAFe or other agile development methodologies.
  • RedHat, RedHawk, Solaris, PowerMax_OS, HP-RT, HP-UX, VxWorks, LynxOS, or other UNIX/Linux operating systems.
  • Jenkins, Jira, ClearQuest, ClearCase, Git, DOORS, and Artifactory.
  • Perf, oprofile, or other software profilers.
  • AN-UYK-43 computer operation or CMS-2 software development.
  • Debugging core files using debuggers such as gdb, in particular with C/C++ executable programs.
  • Certifications in cyber security, software development, test, engineering, or agile.
