Job Description


As an engineer on our Railroad Bridge (Structural) team, you will be responsible for technical design and/or support on Olsson’s projects involving railroad bridges and supporting structures. The ideal candidate is a strong project manager with eight years (minimum) of experience working on Class I Railroad structures projects and the ability to work closely with clients. A primary responsibility will be overseeing staff and workload through the duration of projects and mentoring employees while also performing technical design and Quality Control reviews of project deliverables. You may also perform research, write technical reports, and travel to job sites for survey/observation.

You bring to the team:

  • 8 years (minimum) of consulting experience, working with Railroad Structures
  • Experience managing railroad projects and clients
  • Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Motivated towards project execution and completion
  • Dependable actions and honest communication in a team environment
  • Ability to leverage software for modeling, calculation, automation, and rapid drafting
  • Applicable experience coordinating with other railroad engineering disciplines.
  • Survey experience and willingness to travel preferred (as required, but on a limited basis)
  • Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering; masters preferred
  • Experience in Microstation, Risa 3D analysis, and Bluebeam Revu preferred
  • Must have an active Professional Engineer (PE) license
