A Project Manager is the leader of a stormwater focused team within WGI; leading the team and building themselves as an expert, and developing thought leadership in their area of expertise. This leader serves clientele focused on a specific service area, stormwater, and flood management, with the ability to work with other teams and build a team as necessary to serve regional and national clients. The project manager is responsible for all aspects of the operation including winning work, recruiting, and developing team members, delivering an excellent work product, and meeting financial and growth targets with the assistance of team members, peers, and division leadership. This role allows the freedom for a leader to build a team that can be accountable to the excellence, growth, and stability expectations of WGI. Project managers work with the Discipline Director to have the resources, staff, and technological tools necessary to accomplish their agreed upon business goals. Cross collaboration between regions/markets/sectors is encouraged at WGI, enabling leadership to work together to achieve the WGI mission to “creatively transform how our world is envisioned, designed, and experienced."

Responsibilities:

Expertise

  • Serve as a stormwater project manager responsible for completing, directing, and reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses for floodplain studies, watershed master plans, regional flood planning and mitigation projects.
  • Prepare design plans and technical specifications, and opinion of probable construction costs of closed systems, open channels, culverts and bridges, detention facilities and water quality controls.
  • Perform engineering and project management related duties to monitor and control project scope, schedule, and budget to meet goals and objectives.
  • Market services to current and prospective clients to ensure a growing practice in the specific area of expertise, to include both external clients and current departments within WGI
  • Participate in the planning, development, drafting, review, and verification of proposals that are issued to clients to ensure accuracy and consistency in areas of expertise.
  • Recruit new team members, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, while supporting the development of team member competencies and experience.

  • Develop and manage an organizational structure that maximizes efficiency and develops career paths for personal.
  • Identify and plan for team member needs in areas of experience and training.
  • Promote and celebrate individual and team accomplishments through corporate communications and team building activities.
  • Ensure the team(s) is responsive and communicates effectively, internally, and externally.
  • Address all client feedback received, including praise to team(s), providing corrective measures where identified.
  • Serve as a source to the team(s) for excitement and willingness to continually grow personally and professionally, as a leader, mentor, and client advocate.
  • Collaborate with our internal research and development teams to identify opportunities for innovation within your area of expertise.

Accuracy

  • Collaborate with and mentor team members to provide quality projects and accurate deliverables to achieve client satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering/technical work performed in the specific market area utilizing company-wide standards and expertise.
  • Commit to a workflow and QAQC process that ensures the standards of excellence at WGI are upheld in our work product to the market sector served.

Transparency

  • Review proposal/submittal requirements to confirm capabilities to deliver requested scope.
  • Prepare project scopes, budgets, bids (where applicable), schedules, and contracts, and seek approvals from the Director.
  • Ensure that every project has a signed/executed contract by all parties to establish a baseline for project initiation and client billing.
  • Provide transparency and honest communication with team members about project objectives, constraints, and limitations within the industry and WGI structure to create an open/improved work environment.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field
  • Five or more years of experience post-graduation
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or the ability to become registered within 6-months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in stormwater and flood management infrastructure preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience using hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling and design software.
  • Experience working with regional clients and/or utilities (municipalities, districts, authorities).
  • Track-record in delivering successful stormwater and flood infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of FEMA’s guidelines and standards for Flood Risk Analysis and Mapping.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) or ability to achieve certification within 6 months.
