The Senior Project Manager is responsible for directly managing and supervising a Project Manager and a Field Inspector while setting the direction for Capital Improvement Programs. Proactively manages projects for the Facilities and Parking Operations division and supervises and participates in the design, planning, and scheduling of construction projects, including overseeing the work of internal staff, contractors and consultants. The primary focus of this position is to ensure projects are done on time and on budget at a high level of quality.
Specific duties include:
- Set strategic direction for future capital improvement program focus areas aligning with the strategic goals of the division.
- Provide training and direction to Project Manager and Field Inspector.
- Consolidate and track status and provide status updates on all projects under the Facilities and Parking Operations Division.
- Actively manages project scope, schedule and budget.
- Managing the project's technical budget (direct labor and expenses, including technical sub-consultants).
- Tracking project schedule within Eclipse with regular status updates.
- Provides input on technical requirements ensuring that the end goal is accomplished.
- Provide oversight of contractors ensuring that billing is accurate and quality standards are met.
- Inspects construction sites to ensure the correct application of all policies, specifications, plans, and other documents related to the project.
- Responsible for helping manage customer communications with internal and external customers.
- Identify areas of focus to drive operational efficiencies.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a closely related field. Must have at least 2 years of progressive leadership experience along with 2 years of project management experience. Must possess and maintain a valid KS driver’s license and City-insurable driving record.
Entry salary range up to $53,718, DOQ.
