Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Applies advanced principles, theories, and concepts. Helps to contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. Is a recognized authority in the field
- Works on unusually complex problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious
- Serves as organizational consultant and spokesperson on specialized projects or programs. Deals with all levels of the company and outside contacts
- Designs, implements, and documents customer solutions in a wide variety of application and/or service areas, including workstation baselines, server baselines, VDI solutions, client/server applications, 3-tier web applications, and new technologies as identified by the customer
- Develops full ITIL Service Design Packages, including documenting requirements, creating SLAs, developing Capacity Management plans, IT Service Continuity Plans, and other areas composing ITIL service design
- Provides IT Systems Engineering support on a wide range of technologies, including: Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, Oracle databases, Microsoft SQL Server, Service Now, Altiris, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Adobe Acrobat, HBSS, Splunk, customer line-of-business applications, VMware vCenter, Horizon View, Site Recovery Manager, HPAC Secure Printing, HP Blade Servers, HP SANs, Certificate Services, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policies and Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
- Designs and deploys enterprise level disaster recovery solutions
- Designs and deploys enterprise class SAN deployments and backup infrastructures, including Data-at-Rest encryption
- Designs and deploys new applications and services to the infrastructure
- Implements Code First solutions using Infrastructure as Code to describe and to document solutions
- Provides systems integration using automated integrating technologies including system deployment leveraging a CI/CD pipeline
- Develops automated tests using provided testing framework
- Assists Service Operations teams to diagnose and resolve the toughest performance, security, and/or technical challenges related to desktop support and deployments
- Develops client install packages for across-the-wire system deployments and system upgrades
- Writes implementation and design documents describing how security features are implemented
- Participates in a Change Management process
- Performs requirements analysis, design, and integration for complex software application environments and collaboration infrastructures
- Provides direction and guidance to less experienced systems engineers
- Investigates and resolves operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel
- Participates in technology evaluation and reengineering teams to support strategy-definition and continuous process improvement activities
- Develops, enhances, and maintains automation of cloud enablement tools
- Participates in the design, implementation and management of workload automation initiatives
- Adheres to firm Change Management, Problem Management policies and familiarity with ITIL or other formalized IT operations foundations
- Provides direction and guidance to less experienced systems engineers
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 10-12+ years of relevant IT experience, or 7-9+ years with Master’s Degree
- 5+ years working with cloud platforms
- 5+ years of experience as an enterprise systems administrator in a client or server environment, including deployment automation tools
- CISSP, Security+ CE or DoD 8570 Certification required (IAT Level II required / IAT Level III desired)
- Extensive knowledge of Windows based systems including Hardware, software, networking and storage
- Proficiency in PowerShell and/or other scripting languages
- Willingness to work after normal duty hours (nights and weekends) as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- ITIL v3 or 4 Foundation Certification highly desired
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, VMware VCP7 – CMA are highly desired (Computing domain certification is required)
Security Clearance Requirements:
- US Citizenship required and active TS clearance adjudicated within the last 6 years
- Candidate must be open to CI poly
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time
- Must be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery
- Must be able to position self to maintain office supplies on variable height shelving.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- Must be able to observe and detect employee deviations from established policy
