Under the direction of the Post Closing Manager, the Senior Post-Closing Resolution Underwriter is responsible for managing a pipeline of credit-related defects, tracking, monitoring, resolving, trending and determining solutions to prevent defects based on root cause analysis. This underwriter will make corrections to deficient documents and requires a strong understanding of guidelines, credit review, calculating income, cash to close, and loan terms.
Here’s what you’ll do:
  • Manage pipeline of credit-related defects to ensure service standards and financial goals are met.
  • Review and validate accuracy of the defects, update information on LOS as needed, and cure the outstanding defects.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly trending reporting. Provide feedback to the line of business.
  • Complete root cause analysis of the monthly tall bars and determine if the cause is people, policy, procedures or technology and make recommendations on resolutions to prevent the defects from occurring in the future and thereby reduce Post Closing deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with the original underwriter and other front-line underwriting leaders to assist with Post Closing suspense items.
  • Re-review the full underwrite of a loan where required to clear any Post Closing deficiencies
  • Internal: Frequent contact with Redfin Mortgage Managers, employees, hiring managers, engineering, and on occasion other department coordinators.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience.
  • Experience working with Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter and Freddie Mac Loan Prospector.
  • Extensive Knowledge of FNMA and FHLMC policies and guidelines required.
  • Extended Knowledge of FHA and VA policies and guidelines is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of mortgage loan processing, compliance, investor products, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills; consultative and collaborative work style.
  • High learning agility with the ability to learn and integrate business variables and learn new systems and platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills & problem-solving abilities; solid decision-making abilities coupled with sound judgment.
  • Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships across the organization. Including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from all levels of management, clients, customers, internal and external audit, secondary marketing, and operations.
  • Working knowledge of various fraud tools.
  • Strong verbal communication skills; strong writing and composition abilities.
