GENERAL SUMMARY:

Working in a Shared Services team environment, the Senior Payroll Specialist is primarily responsible for processing and auditing payroll for multiple locations. Duties also include responding to Directors and Supervisor inquiries and issues.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

  • Process bi-weekly payments through ADP Workforce Now for multiple company locations; consistently with 100% accuracy.
  • Process off cycle payroll checks including final payments for multiple company locations with 100% accuracy.
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and in a timely way.
  • Auditing departmental timecards. Importing time clock data to payroll processing software.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Understand proper taxation of employer-paid benefits.
  • Process correct garnishment calculations.
  • Ensure employee PTO, Sick and Vacation accruals are accurate.
  • Perform payroll analysis as required.
  • Perform ad hoc duties and projects as assigned.
  • Resolve employee enquiries.
  • Assist with quarter-end and year-end audits.
  • Perform research when necessary to ensure compliance with changes in regulations.
  • Ensure all department documentation including processes, policies and standard checklists are accurate and up to date.
  • Assist Director of Financial Services to design, implement and execute routine and ad hoc audits as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-10 years of experience with payroll processing and data entry.
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Must proficient knowledge in using ADP Workforce Now and eTime.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of California wage and hour laws as well as other state and federal government laws as it relates to payroll.
  • Must be a proactive learner.
  • Must have a passion for providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
  • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
  • Impeccable analytical skills and attention to detail required.
  • Must be able to investigate, document and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred
  • Certified Payroll Professional a plus
  • Payroll experience in a healthcare environment would be a plus.
