Job DescriptionWe have an opening for a Senior Material Handler. You will be responsible for performing moderate to difficult warehouse and material handling duties and provide assistance to customers on material requirements. This position is in the Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Department.
In this role you will
- Process written or verbal stock material requests and perform moderate to complex material handling duties.
- Adhere to policies and procedures and makes work unit commitments related to functional responsibilities; assist with the development and implementation of new techniques and procedures.
- Identify, verify, and replenish stock material in appropriate bin location; coordinate the delivery of material/equipment to designated job site locations.
- Maintain yard and staging areas; operate forklift, pallet jack; loading and unloading customers and vendor trucks; store, stack, or palletize material in accordance with established procedures, which may include hazardous materials.
- Enter receiving and transfer transactions into database system; inspect and identify suspect counterfeit and/or non-conforming materials and operate computer to query parts, researching products and on-line training.
- Prepare for and assist in the physical inventory process, and maintain critical inventories as assigned.
- Review shipping documents and process material returns.
- Provide information in response to inquiries, working within a framework of standard policies and procedures, and interact with delivery drivers, vendors, requesters, crafts, and Technical Release Representatives
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Demonstrated broad and practical knowledge of material handling techniques and methods.
- Experience in a customer service or support organization with demonstrated written and verbal communication skills necessary to interact tactfully and effectively with a diverse group of personalities and disciplines in a fast-paced work environment; ability to work effectively as a team member as well as independently.
- Working knowledge of facilities maintenance, construction materials, and terminologies.
- Experience with personal computers and associated database software.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklift and pallet jack. Possess and maintain current and valid California Class C driver’s license.
- Ability to lift 30-50 pounds and, occasionally, 50-85 pounds, bend, reach, and stoop on a frequent basis.
- Knowledge of Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H), applicable laws and regulations, including policies, procedures and regulations related to inbound and outbound materials.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Powered Industrial Truck certification.
Qualifications We Desire
- Familiarity with Inventory Control databases, chemical and procurement databases, i.e. ChemTrack’s database and Supply Chain Management LINCS database.
- Basic knowledge of LLNL’s Infrastructure and Operations and their organizational activities.
