Job Summary:
APTIM has a position open for a Senior-level Geophysicist with a strong leadership skills, field experience, and data processing and analysis background. This position will perform support to military munitions response program (MMRP) project sites under contract to the Department of Defense (DOD). Support of MMRP projects will include Digital Geophysical Mapping (DGM), and Advanced Geophysical Classification (AGC), data collection, analysis, report writing, project planning proposal support and supervision of junior geophysicists. Primary author of plans, reports, and proposals. Effectively represents the company at local/national conferences, workshops, and other professional forums.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performance as Project Geophysicist on AGC investigations.
- Performance as Quality Control Geophysics of AGC investigations.
- Technical diretion of geophysical surveys on MMRP sites.
- Processing of DGM data and the production of target investigation packets.
- Perform geophysical data processing and analysis for conventional DGM and AGC methods to include informed source selection/screening during dynamic surveys, and data collection as part of cued surveys.
- Processing of AGC data and development of prioritized target lists.
- Design of MEC characterizaton approaches for MMRP RI in accordance with current USACE and DOD guidance including EM200-1-15 and the MR QAPP toolkit.
- Technical task manager on large projects; understands financial metrics.
- Interfacing with Project Managers and Senior Unexploded Ordnance Supervisors (SUXOS) on progress, staffing and resource needs in the completion of geophysical surveys.
- Effectively communicates technical concepts and field results via oral and written presentations, including poster/platform presentations at national conferences.
- Interfacing with cost estimators on proposal efforts.
- Participates as a mentor in a mentor-protege relationship.
- Possesses professional registration/certification within own discipline; acquires CEUs/PDHs to actively maintain such registration.
- Actively involved in the performance review process as a feedback or primary reviewer.
- Incorporating safety and quality standards in the performance of geophysical surveys.
- Proven experience in leading data acquisition teams in the completion of geophysical surveys on MMRP sites.
Basic Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience with AGC sensors (Metal Mapper, MPV, UltraTEM, etc.) and corresponding data processing and analysis software.
- Experience with standard geophysical instruments (EM61, EM31, G858, etc.) and corresponding data processing and analysis software. Experience with GPS, RTS, and other associated sensors. Experience with Geonics/Geometrics software and related software including Geosoft Oasis Montaj, UX Analyze, and MS Access
- Experience with implementing DOD guidance for military munitions projects specifically those instructing the implementation of geophysical surveys.
- Experience with innovative technologies including remote sensing.

A degree in geophysics, engineering geophysics, or closely related field or equivalent demonstrated proficiency with advanced geophysical methods and concepts related to munitions response.
