Job Description

Coastal Systems is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking Senior Environmental/Permitting Project Manager with strong management and business development skills to manage coastal/marine/waterfront projects and process required permits at the County, State, and Federal level.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide all aspects of project oversight and management for multiple environmental, regulatory, and construction projects throughout South Florida and internationally.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the many regulations and procedures governing coastal/waterfront construction and have established relationships with key regulatory agency personnel.
  • Oversee implementation of specialized projects that include coastal/waterfront development, docks and marinas, beach-dune system enhancement, inlet stabilization and maintenance, waterway improvements including shoreline stabilization structures, stormwater drainage systems, and environmental restoration projects.
  • Support Marketing Department with developing leads, expanding existing clientele, organizing marketing efforts, contributing to business development activities, assisting in preparation of RFQ/RFP response packages and making shortlist presentations.
  • Coordinate environmental and technical fieldwork, obtain project regulatory approvals, collaborate with design, engineering, and construction teams/personnel, and drive with proposal and project procurement.
  • Maintain relationships with high-level clientele, government officials, and numerous contractors/vendors.
  • Obtain environmental approvals for various agencies, such as Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, South Florida Water Management District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Marine Fisheries Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Coast Guard, and other local government environmental resource management agencies
  • Participate in professional organizations, networking activities, expert panels and other speaking engagements.
  • Supervise the completion of Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, Biological Assessments, Field Observation Reports and other technical reports.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in Marine Biology / Ecology / Geology / Affairs, Coastal / Civil / Structural Engineering, Coastal Zone Management/Planning, Environmental Science or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar environmental project management role.
  • Private-sector or government experience, especially in the environmental, engineering or construction field, required.
  • Strong management and project team coordination skills.
  • Ability to present concepts and ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Experience with regulatory agencies in the local South Florida market
  • SCUBA certification is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, technical writing skills, and experience reviewing architectural / engineering plans.
