Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Global Workplace Employee Health & Safety (EHS), this individual is responsible for assisting with the development and management of employee health and safety programs at Workday. They will assist in providing interpretation and ensure compliance with regional EHS regulatory requirements at Workday locations. They will actively promote, advocate and communicate ergonomics/safety within Workday and assist with implementing EHS programs and measure their effectiveness, with a goal of continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the development, management and implementation of Global EHS programs and policies
- Interprets and promotes compliance with all applicable local safety codes and regulations
- Assists with Workday’s internal Legal Compliance program
- Assists in developing and implementing EHS educational and training programs to improve employee awareness and participation
- Assists in developing and maintaining regional safety inspection programs and ensure that required EHS documentation is current, accurate, and in compliance with Workday policy
- Assists in providing guidance and promote continual improvement to Safety Committees
- Conducts various EHS inspections, audits and assessments to observe behaviors and conditions and to verify the appropriate implementation and effectiveness of EHS controls, programs and corrective measures
- Conducts incident investigations; develops and implements corrective and preventative actions
- Assists with managing and expanding involvement in Workday EHS programs
- Works with internal & external organizations to ensure that as new equipment, facilities, services, and systems are installed that they are coordinating with other related teams to ensure safety measures and disaster recovery issues are addressed
- Assist with compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; interpreting standards; enforcing adherence to regulations; advising management on needed actions
- Assist with EHS policies by conducting regional inspections; reporting statistics; counseling managers and employees
- Assists in developing emergency and pandemic response and procedures; distributes and updates procedures to reflect changes in staff size, location, organization, and home office facilities
- Assists with coordination during an emergency situation
- Coordinates emergency/evacuation drills and training
- Monitors the effectiveness of procedures during evacuation drills and revises the procedures as necessary
- Manages Workday Emergency Response and Care (WERC) Team and Life-Safety Team program to support the overall medical & building evacuation efforts
- Coordinates, tracks, and schedules First Aid, CPR, AED, BBP, Workday Emergency Response and Care (WERC) Team and Life-Safety Team basics classes
- Manages and oversees supplies for first aid kits, trauma bags, AEDs, and disaster preparedness kits
- Coordinates and manages outside resources/suppliers/vendors for training, supplies, and safety services as needed
- Maintains contact with local outside safety professional organizations and local/regional emergency response groups
- Works collaboratively to develop employee participation in global ergonomics and safety processes
- Completes ergonomic evaluations and ensures proper documentation and recordkeeping
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Bachelors degree in EHS or related field
- 5 or more years of EHS or related experience
- Considerable knowledge of safety principles and practices
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certified
- Ability to identify and recognize unsafe conditions or work practices
- Ability to organize and conduct effective training and education programs
- Ability to plan and organize work in order to achieve high performance
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, demonstrate initiative, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, organizational management, decision-making, and communication skills
- Must be a productive team player
- Off-hour on-call support as required
- Highly ethical, with demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information
- Working knowledge and experience using computer applications to include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- International experience preferred
