Job Description
Position Summary

Ogletree Deakins has the opportunity for an experienced Senior eBilling Appeals Specialist to join the Firm’s expanding Accounting & Finance Department. The Senior eBilling Appeals Specialist position is part of the Centralized Billing Department reporting to the eBilling Manager. The Senior eBilling Appeals Specialist responsible for all aspects of the appeals process, This includes an understanding of eBilling system requirements, providing information regarding reductions to attorneys and practice assistants, analyzing data to recommend areas for process improvement as well as, attorney training and following up on outstanding appeal responses.

The Senior eBilling Appeals Specialist has an elevated knowledge of the eBilling/appeals process and client guidelines and complies with eBilling and Billing policies. The Senior eBilling Specialist-Appeals is expected to handle a large volume of appeals, understand complex billing scenarios, provide excellent service to clients, attorneys, and colleagues while producing a timely and accurate work product. The Senior eBilling Specialist-Appeals is expected to maintain an atmosphere of collaboration and continuous improvement, while providing leadership to the team.

Essential Functions
  • Ability to work with BillBlast platform to generate LEDES files and manipulate invoices for transmission of appeals.
  • Generate recap reports for attorney review by entering reduction information into Aderant workflow.
  • Update the status and notes for invoices in BillBlast accordingly.
  • Provide additional information for attorneys on invoice reductions if needed.
  • Follow up on outstanding appeal language in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with eBillers regarding timekeeper reductions.
  • Prepare reports indicating appeal volume on a monthly basis.
  • Submit appeals to vendor sites by creating LEDES file in BillBlast.
  • Proactively seek and provide recommendations to improve existing appeal processes.
  • Work closely with different Financial teams to ensure quick resolution for reduced invoices.
  • Mentor and assist in the training and development of eBilling Specialists.
  • Participate in monthly eBilling meetings.
  • Possess clear knowledge of the eBilling/billing process for insurance clients to ensure compliance with billing guidelines

  • Four-year undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred and/or equivalent work experience.
  • At least four years of relevant experience, preferably within a global law firm or professional services environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of accounting and billing functions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and related technology.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and editing capabilities.
  • Excellent customer services skills.
  • Ability and willingness to assess procedures and proactively recommend improvements to existing processes.
  • Ability and willingness to prioritize and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction while adapting to changing priorities and work demands.

For Colorado Applicants: In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this Colorado position is between $65,000 and $75,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position qualifies for the below staff benefits.
