Job Summary
The senior director of information technology services reports to the chief information officer and is responsible for the evaluation, selection, implementation, and maintenance of Anchorage School District information systems. The senior director ensures appropriate investment in district infrastructure and systems. The senior director provides guidance and manages the development of IT staff, and advises leadership on priorities, goals, and schedules for technology initiatives. The position has a retirement association with the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).

Physical /Mental Demands
The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, be able to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.

Job Requirements
The following are required:
- A bachelor's degree in information technology, business, planning, or a related field. Equivalent experience, education, and training may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
- A minimum of seven years of experience in systems analysis, project planning, project implementation, and project supervision.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising multiple IT teams.
- Ability to be available via phone after regular work hours and on weekends and to respond to calls within a reasonable time frame.

- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to actively communicate, inspire, and motivate all levels of staff.
- Evidence of service experience in a similar role in a K-12 educational institution.
- Evidence of implementing innovations to improve and modernize processes.
- Ability to create a system of mentorship and coaching for emerging leaders within IT.
- Evidence of applying emerging technologies to solve district and IT problems.
