THE ROLE
SFL Scientific is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our data science team and support our AI consulting practice. The role is to design and develop solutions for various organizations looking to implement tools, software, and processes that leverage emerging machine learning and AI technologies.
This role uses your abilities in cloud development, automation, DevOps, MLOps, data engineering, and streamlining IT infrastructure processes for organizations in healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, energy, and other industries.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with organizations to design, develop, and deploy new architectures for machine learning and automation applications such as ETL functions, HPC/compute infrastructure, AWS/Azure hybrid solutions, database management, and optimization of DevOps procedures.
- Leverage advanced skills in modern data architecture, data science engineering, data transformation, management of structured and unstructured data sources using cloud computing or on-prem technologies.
- Support and enhance data architecture, data pipelines, and define database schemas (Graph DB, SQL, NoSQL) to develop algorithm scalability and deployment.
- Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and business leaders to implement data science engineering solutions based on agile business priorities and technology initiatives.
- Participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, and high availability in the cloud or on-prem.
- Keep up to date with the latest, best practices in automation, HPC, CI/CD, AIOps, and big data solutions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a STEM field or related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in various services and capabilities of computing platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) with AWS/Azure certifications.
- Expertise with AWS such as IAM, EC2, EBS, ELB, RDS, S3, Redshift, Lambda, etc.
- Experience managing and supporting Docker, Kubernetes, Spark, Dask, Flask, CI/CD services.
- Database and data warehousing experience, relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience with provisioning and configuration management tools; Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Terraform, Jenkins, etc.
- Previous experience in data engineering, software engineering, MLOps, data science or research
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with outside firms as a technical leader.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
