Senior Cost Accountant

Overview: The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for performing cost analyses and preparing budget reports.Responsibilities:

• Collect cost information and maintain expenses database.
• Construct data accumulation systems.
• Determine fixed costs (e.g. salaries, rent, and insurance).
• Plan and record variable costs (e.g. purchases of raw material and operations costs).
• Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
• Prepare budgeting reports (for the company and for each department).
• Analyze and report profit margins.
• Prepare (monthly, quarterly, and annual) cost forecasts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing.
• Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Ensure financial records are in compliance with company internal controls.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related degree.
• 5+ years of work experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Accountant, or in a similar role.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret program financial data.
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting procedures.
• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.
• Strong time management skills.
• Strong integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information.
• Experience in government contracting environment.
• Experience with Accounting software.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Excel (VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).
