The Department of Molecular and Human Genetics (MHG) is hiring a Business Operations Associate to oversee various departmental administrative processes such as the department email distribution lists and listserves, the MHG Research Social and various speaking engagements, workshops and seminars. This position will serve as central point person, working collaboratively among the MHG Finance and HR teams, as well as faculty and support staff in the department. The position will provide programming administrative support for Community Engagement and Diversity faculty.
This position is a hybrid remote position. The selected candidate is expected to work in the office one day a week and remotely four days a week.
- Provide grants management assistance for pre-award and post award management of programming grants.
- Research, identify and maintain contacts database related to community engagement and diversity.
- Various programs include: Evenings with Genetics, Rare Disease Day, Let’s Learn, Genetics fairs via the DHHS/UT-Austin state grant, etc.
- Travel as needed to assist with events and programs.
- Coordinate in-person and virtual events.
- Provide administrative support and event coordination for department programs:
- Assist with new programs and events related to MHG operations, such as new Consultagene projects, events related to clinical, research and/or education.
- Maintain department email distribution lists and listservs.
- Manage the EvM (Event Management – BCM Intranet Calendar) for department events.
- Manage faculty recruitment; to include ads, applications, and search committees.
- Develop and maintain metrics and data related to programs and events.
- Develop and manage surveys and polls.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Four years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.
- Pre-award and/or post award research administration experience.
- Experience in Higher education.
- Experience with SAP and Concur.
- Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
- Read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures, such Uniform Guidance federal guidelines, BCM policies, etc. in duties related to transaction review and approval.
