As our Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for inventory management and procurement, managing vendor performance and compliance, identifying and resolving routine to complex purchasing issues and coordinating with suppliers to meet customer demand.

What you will do:

  • Manage day-to-day vendor performance and fulfillment. Ensure that vendors and suppliers comply with expectations, contract terms and the conditions of the contracts and to determine the need for changes. Clearly communicate expectations to suppliers and monitor contracts to ensure compliance.
  • Purchase materials to ensure supplies meets the requirements to support demand and on-time delivery of domestic and global demand requirements.
  • Identify potential issues, and ensure disconnects such as anticipated product shortages, nonconforming material and excess or obsolete materials are continuously monitored and resolved. Communicate issues and resolutions to internal teams including sourcing and product management.
  • Responsible for order placement and vendor management of delivery schedules.
  • Assist in the development of partnership arrangements with suppliers to manage internal inventories and vendor consigned inventories reduce inventory ownership and lead times. Perform inventory analysis when required.
  • Troubleshoot/analyze quality issues and collaborate with internal and external teams to obtain resolution. Focus to drive down the overall freight expenses, material liability and cost of managing materials.
  • Develop key reports with measurement and benchmark information to improve purchasing and supplier management processes.
  • Review the annual forecast plan for requirements, and participates with planning to ensure inventory availability. Additionally, participate in determining disposition of excess and obsolete materials.
  • Continuously strive to produce more visible, accurate and timely schedules. Evaluate, recommend and implement enhancements to existing flows and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure all relevant information and documentation is captured and handled uniformly within the system. Responsible for the accuracy and data integrity of the system as it pertains to production planning.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply change management, purchasing, or equivalent job experience
  • Five years of buying/procurement experience in a consumer goods/manufacturing environment
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail for supply management and inventory control methods and procedures
  • Ability to create complex reports which depict quality, processes, benchmark, and expense information to effectively make decisions
  • Proven timeline and project management experience in a dynamic environment
  • APICS and/or ISM certification is a plus
  • Prior experience working in an MRP, and JDE environment is a plus
  • May require some domestic travel.
