Job Description

Plan International works for girls’ rights. Harmful barriers like child marriage, human trafficking and gender-based violence are preventing girls and young women from achieving their full potential. Plan, along with government and private partners, fights against harmful gender norms and empowers young people to create positive change. We have worked in communities for more than 80 years and implement locally-led programming through approximately 240 offices around the world. Our technical sectors include education, youth economic empowerment, sexual and reproductive health rights, empowerment of girls and young women, and emergency response.
We are fully committed to the safeguarding of all children and young people from all forms of violence.
Plan International USA is in the process of establishing the organizational strategy for FY23-27, in-line with the global strategy that has recently been rolled out, which includes ambitions to strengthen the USG funding portfolio to help support our global mission to advance girls’ rights. To support this strategy, Plan International USA is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to join a 6-person BD team.

The Senor BD Manager will support and lead on USG proposals across both the humanitarian and development funding streams, working closely with technical colleagues and colleagues in our country-offices to ensure that high-quality, compliant and competitive proposals are submitted.

With a solid understanding of USG funding mechanisms, the Senior BD Manager will both support and lead on new business development efforts across the business development cycle, acting as capture and proposal manager on competitive USG proposals.

Working closely with the Senior Director of BD and the wider BD team, the Senior BD Manger will also play a key role in the implementation of the BD strategy, helping to ensure Plan International USA is well-positioned with the USG and potential partners, in collaboration with colleagues in advocacy, communications, technical and country teams.

The Senior BD Manager will have a successful track record leading on competitive USG proposals (including USAID, DOL, BHA, and/or DOS [PRM, J/TIP, DRL]) and forming strong relationships with key stakeholders (both internal and external).
