Senior Application Engineer

Job Title: Senior Application Engineer, Linux & Edge AI Location: Cincinnati, OH ; Chicago, IL ; Milpitas, CA ; or Remote About this position The Application Engineer will provide exceptional pre- and post- sale technical support of Advantech’s Edge AI and Compute products for key accounts, end users, system integrators, distributors, and internal sales forces. In addition, they will lead technical project support effort to secure customer design wins and maintain ongoing success in close collaboration with the sales teams. Responsibilities:

• Identify and recreate customer’s issues in lab environment to recommend and clearly communicate resolutions.
• Work independently and with other members of the technical support team to resolve customer application issues in a timely fashion.
• Pre-sales resource to actively establish the technical relationship with customer’s engineers, management, and architects at focus accounts
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Product Design Team in HQ to resolve technical issues and suggest product improvements.
• Create sample applications, product demos, technical documents and other related items for sales, marketing, and support efforts.
• Provide technical product training to sales team, channel partners, system integrators, OEMs, and end users.
• Maintain and improve current knowledge through personal education and training. Stay abreast of upcoming product releases as well as current and future technological trends.
• Interface with customers in the field in support of new projects or investigate potential quality issues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Technical Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of technical working experience for the following (certifications a plus):
  • Knowledgeable with various Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu(required), Yocto(required), Debian, RHEL, CentOS
  • Experience with Virtualization (VMWare, Docker, Kubernetes) implemented for the Edge
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and calm demeanor required
• Must be a team player, but able to work independently; self-starter
• Ability to travel to customer sites (approximately 15%)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with NVIDIA based solutions including GPU cards and Jetson
• Working knowledge of AI/ML applications
• Experience with any of the major cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, GCP or others
