Well-established international shipping company with offices in Midtown Manhattan is looking for a Senior Accounting Manager. This individual will have responsibilities for overseeing the financial accounting, reporting and cash management of multiple special purpose companies on an individual and consolidated basis. We are seeking a financial leader who can provide optimum resources, systems, reporting and analytics to enhance the business. The ability to work in an entrepreneurial and fast paced environment is critical. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and have demonstrated ability to grow and develop the function.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsibility for all aspects of the multi company portfolio, including cash management, accounting and review responsibilities (including general ledger function, GAAP reporting, estimates/forecasts, variance analysis and internal financial management reporting and profitability analysis). Function to include preparing financials for accuracy, consistency and identification of potential business issues.
- Oversee bookkeepers of individual LLCs regularly. Semi-annually prepare consolidated financials for internal management purposes and annually prepare consolidated financials for auditing by outside accounting firm, including interfacing with auditors throughout audit and year as necessary.
- Development, implementation and review of internal controls. Make recommendations regarding operations, accounting and reporting issues and discuss with management.
- Create sound expense management policies and procedures to minimize costs, ensure proper controls and reduce unnecessary expenditures.
- Develop a cash management program to monitor and report cash flows on a budgeted, actual and forecasted basis.
- Review existing and contemplated software systems to ensure they are appropriate and efficient Ensure maximum potential of systems are realized.
- Furnish internal reports, revise and update reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnish external reports to lenders, etc. as necessary.
- Manage and annually review insurance policies in place for coverage and premium.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 5 years accounting and finance work history. Working experience with a recognized CPA firm.
- Person needs to be proactive with issues and responsive to management. Must have experience working under pressure with various projects and deadlines, while reporting to multiple people.
SKILLS AND EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree with major in accounting preferred or Master’s degree In Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant or equivalent.
- Must be able to work in entrepreneurial environment and possess initiative organization, problem-solving, analytical and technical skills. Demonstrated leadership ability is essential, and be capable of identifying and resolving issues. Needs to be cognizant of big picture and task objectives, yet also detail-oriented and willing to take a hands on approach. The candidate also needs to be able to understand the impact of non-financial information to the financial records of the programs.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft products (Excel, Word). Experience with accounting software preferred.
- Mandarin speaking, reading and writing preferred but not required.
