RR Donnelley is looking for a talented Senior Accountant to join our team in Logan, UT!
As a Senior Accountant, you will maintain general ledger accounts and perform other accounting-related activities.
You will also provide records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions, balance books periodically, and prepares profit and loss, income, and balance sheet statements.
Maintaining receipts and disbursement reports is another of your responsibilities.
You may plan, conduct, and participate in the basic analysis of cost assignments, ensuring that all assigned projects adhere to accepted cost accounting standards.
You will also have an opportunity to assist with analysis on financial (income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow) to identify trends and interpret for senior management as well as preparing management reports that measure performance against key objectives and strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze accounts, records, reports, accounts receivable and payable, journal vouchers, general and subsidiary ledgers and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness. Investigate and resolve accounting problems for the area of responsibility
- Preparing monthly financial information utilizing the applicable support systems. Duties include preparing journal entries, coding invoices/vouchers, reconciling the balance sheet, and analyzing variances
- May perform analyses of cost records to ascertain the distribution of costs for various divisions of management and production
- May classify labor, material, and overhead costs to compute unit costs of products or services
- Analyze actual costs versus standard costs and prepares reports of variances to include recommendations to senior management. Compile cost data for preparation of operating budgets
- Prepares other reports and assist in special projects and analyses as required or requested by the supervisor
- Assists in annual budget preparation and periodic forecasts
- Supports internal customers by researching questions and investigating variances on the financial statements
- Serves as subject matter resource to management and accounting staff regarding accounting-related transactions, regulations, issues, and/or variances
- Mentor and assist junior-level accountants with the application of accounting practices and adherence to GAAP
- Ensures proper retention, filing, and handling of accounting records
- Liaise with external auditors to facilitate audits of financial statements
- Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned
Required Skills
- Strong ability to broadly apply work experience and analyzing complex problems. Must possess skills to identify critical elements, variables, and alternatives to develop creative solutions to a problem
- Excellent organization/prioritization ability
- Communication skills and ability to deliver core messages in a clear manner, and ability to modify communication to the audience
- Ability to mentor junior level team members in the use of tools/systems
Required Experience
- Bachelors degree in a discipline related to the function of work, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
- OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience
- Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite, and other accounting-related software and systems
- Cost or Project Accounting experience
