CDM Smith has a new career opportunity for a proven leader in the water and wastewater services field! We are looking for a self-motivated Seller-Doer Sr. Water/Wastewater Project Manager to join our growing Miami office. This is a key role with the potential to have significant impact on client development and project management on a wide variety of multidisciplinary water and environmental broad-based projects in Florida. In this position, you will be a key point of contact for our greater Miami-Dade area water and environmental clients while partnering with CDM Smith Sales leadership to identify, develop, and deliver project opportunities and growth related initiatives and managing our stellar projects.

CDM Smith has been providing engineering services across the Florida market for over 70 years. Our services have spanned the areas of modeling, master planning studies, design, and construction administration of water, wastewater, solid waste and storm water facilities. Our Miami office has strong water and environmental expertise to support our current and future projects in the greater Florida municipal markets. As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:

  • Managing and leading multi-discipline water and wastewater civil environmental projects in South Florida
  • Contributing to client business development activities for capturing new projects in South Florida
  • Being active in the municipal public works and utility industry while keeping abreast of emerging technologies, research and development opportunities, and conference/committee participation in professional associations
  • Arranging, facilitating and preparing for meetings/coordination with municipal clients such as: Cities, Towns, and Counties as well as key project stakeholders.
  • Building and managing relationships with key municipal planning leaders in the greater Miami area
  • Developing budget, scope and schedule; monitoring adherence for tasks and projects managed.
  • Responsible for implementation of firm’s quality procedures at project and task levels.
  • Providing high level planning and programming analysis work including preparation of technical documents and reports.
  • Serving as a mentor to junior staff, including the coordination and reviewing of project assignments
  • Effectively working with key technical specialists, project team members, and delivery managers
  • Providing oversight/administration of field construction work, including engineering services during construction
  • Enhancing your career and leadership development through many PD credit based learning opportunities through CDM Smith University

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10 years of related experience
  • Current Project Management certification (either PMP, CCM, or DBIA) or ability to obtain within a year of start date)
  • Domestic travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Skills and Abilities

Experience working with project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software and finance and accounting concepts and practices. Demonstrates excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Possesses in-depth knowledge of project goals, drivers, strategies, risks and opportunities. Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients. Ability to interact with many people and process a large volume of requests as necessary. Excellent personal computer skills including strong knowledge in MS Word and Excel. Demonstrates strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or chemical engineering
  • Professional engineering (PE) license
  • Previous experience working on and managing water and environmental engineering projects and project teams in the South Florida area
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external clients
  • Experience as a leader, mentor, and problem solver with a determination for excellence
  • Alternative delivery experience
  • Master's Degree
