Position Overview


This department has specialized positions that require attention to detail and a passion for plant-life, if you take great pride in planting, seeding, watering, and overseeing plant-health ~ this may be a great fit for you!


The construction/landscape department conducts all work in the field and the primary functions include, but are not limited to: planting, seeding, soil preparation, installations, erosion control, and operation of seeding equipment. As a foreman, knowledge of hardscapes and operation of other specialized equipment (skid loader, tractor, hydro-seed machine, water truck, etc.) is required


This is a seasonal position that may have a reduction in hours certain times of the year (winter). During this time the primary function will change to support business needs to include snow removal.


Day-to-Day Stuff:

  • Typically responsible for a crew of 1- 3 workers
  • Lead team for installation of planting, seeding, soil preparation, erosion control installation, and hardscape materials.
  • Consistently adhere to established quality and safety standards
  • Demonstrates competency in operating landscape-construction equipment; if unfamiliar, consistently demonstrate willingness to learn
  • Meet deadlines and expectations expressed by manager
  • Effectively communicate with manager and crew members
  • Perform light maintenance on equipment, as needed in the field
  • Other assigned duties during months when hours decrease will consist of preparation for upcoming projects, organizing inventory, and shop work - when available
  • Understand and meet project specific production budgets and deadlines
  • Other duties assigned

What you need to succeed:


  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have the ability to be added onto company’s insurance policy. CDL Class “A” License preferred but must possess the ability to acquire additional driver’s license endorsements, as needed.
  • Achieve any department required certification within 30 days or as directed by manager. Including but not limited to: OSHA 30 Certification and/or ASCA Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to read plans and perform in-field layout and measurements.
  • Complete daily work orders according to instructions, accurately log work completed and return completed work order, following established process
  • Accurately record hours worked on a daily basis, as expected per project
  • Demonstrate mastery of landscape skills gained through prior training
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with peers and teammates
  • Able to assess situations and make appropriate decisions
  • Proficient using basic, in-field technology
  • Must be able to work in a safety aware environment
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
  • Regular and prompt attendance required; Ability to work outside regular business hours as needed
  • Ability to work alternate hours and travel to multiple locations (occasionally and as needed)
  • Must be available for extended hours during snow events; mandatory overtime
  • Uniform deposit required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day with the ability to be mobile throughout required work areas. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 lbs. The employee will be required to generate up to 125 lbs of push/pull force when maneuvering various equipment/supplies. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to work outside in all types of weather conditions; conditions include occasional extreme heat exposure due to natural climate. The noise level in the work environment can be loud; vibration levels are moderate.
