Job Responsibilities

We are searching for a temporary Security Assistant to support our growing campus in Carlsbad, CA. Protection of property, people, assets and information is an important component of our Security program. As one of San Diego’s fastest-growing companies, Viasat produces innovative satellite and other wireless communication products that enable fast, secure, and efficient communications to any location. • Direct/Escort vendors and other visitors around the campus.
• Provide security oversight for contractor activities taking place on campus and provide situational awareness for the physical security team.
• Understand and enforce security and access control policies in a professional and personable manner.
• Good social skills are vital to deal optimally and courteously with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and carry out directions.
• Strong situational awareness
• Strong customer service skills. Must be able to work with customers and other visitors in a professional, courteous manner.
• Candidates who demonstrate solid work discipline may be given exposure to additional job duties associated with our physical security environment.

Requirements

• This is an entry-level position.
• The on-call schedule is based on internal support needs so the candidate must be willing and able to work flexible hours or fill shifts as needed. This is a great opportunity for someone who is retired, going to school, or looking for supplemental income!
• Ability to take direction and accurately carry out-tasking as taught
• Effective written and verbal communications skills. Must be able to document security incidents and other events clearly and succinctly
• Must be capable of standing / walking for extended time periods
• High School Diploma
• Work assignments may occur in facilities designated for U.S. Government activities and require U.S Citizenship
