Job Summary:

The Missile Defense Programs Department (MDP) within the Systems Integration and Test (SI&T) Directorate is searching for a Section Leader to join our team. The Missile Defense Programs Department provides system engineering, integration, and test expertise to the radar, sensor and ship systems programs within Raytheon Missiles and Defense. This department primarily focuses on integration, test and sustainment activities associated with AN/TPY-2. The Section Leader opportunity is specific to the integration and test team in Woburn, Massachusetts.

As a Section Leader, the candidate will be expected to actively participate in MDP leadership team goals and initiatives, support department hiring, support program staffing, provide employee feedback, mentoring, and be actively involved in daily program operations. Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Lead a diverse team of engineers
  • Establish meaningful and measurable goals and communicate effectively with the team
  • Oversee the direct line management activities for the section including communication, performance management, career development, and talent acquisition
  • Collaborate and communicate with other sections and teams
  • Support department and directorate level initiatives
  • Ensure employee compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Oversight of personnel issue resolution
  • Timecard approvals
  • Adhere to and ensure alignment to Raytheon Technologies Values and Behaviors
  • Work as a technical lead or individual contributor; Section Leader duties account for approximately 10% of the employee’s time.


Qualification You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
  • Typically requires eight (8) years of prior experience in Systems Engineering and/or System Integration, Verification and Validation OR an Advanced Degree and five (5) years of prior experience
  • Knowledge of the Performance Development process
  • Experience working in a matrix environment
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

  • Experience effectively managing a geographically dispersed team
  • Experience with the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) or similar budget tracking system
  • Experience with Raytheon’s Proposal Capture Process (development of Basis of Estimates, etc)
  • Experience with the Estimate at Complete (EAC) process
  • Experience in implementing business and program improvements through process improvement methodologies
