About the role

As an Secretarial Support Manager, you will be responsible for establishing strategic and operational priorities for the attorney support teams in the office, including organizing, supervising and developing secretarial staff. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing strategic and operational priorities for the attorney support functions in the office
  • Coaching and counselling attorney support coordinators and secretaries as needed
  • Monitoring workflow and coordination of assignments based upon daily Firm and client needs
  • Establishing effective communication with the secretarial staff regarding firm policies, procedures and expectations; conducting secretarial meetings as necessary and in line with department guidelines
  • Managing the performance review process, incorporating all appropriate feedback; recommending salary increases and discretionary bonuses for attorney support; obtaining ongoing feedback on coordinators and, where necessary, other secretaries; delivering performance messages in line with departmental guidelines

About you

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills (e.g. organising, planning, problem-solving and decision-making) necessary for effective management
  • Possess well developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels of the Firm
  • Display strong communication skills, both written and verbal

And have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of three (3) to eight (8) years’ experience in a supervisory/management capacity, preferably in a law firm
  • Legal Secretarial experience desired
