This is a seasonal full-time Monday - Friday (9 am – 4 pm) position. Applicants must be available to work the entire duration of the program from May 31, 2022 to August 5, 2022.
The rate of pay is $15.00 per hour!
At St. Louis Arc, we pride ourselves on supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live their best lives. We are currently seeking dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic individuals that demonstrate our core values of Respect, Collaboration, and Empowerment to apply for our Summer Leisure (Neighborhood Experience/N.E in the City and Teens in Motion) position. Seasonal Staff will assist our participants (13 to 20 years old) in building positive experiences out in the community by exploring volunteer, educational, and/or work opportunities based around their interests. A typical day will consist of transporting participants to 2-3 sites (e.g. park or thrift store) throughout the day and assisting them with various tasks such as gardening, folding boxes, etc.
Each program will be comprised of two roles:
- Support Staff – Assists participants with searching for work sites, resume creation, and modeling work and social skills. They will also provide personal hygiene supports.
- Assistant – In addition to the Support Staff duties, Assistants will lead the day-to-day operations of the programs such as managing driving logs, handling petty cash, and troubleshooting staff or participant issues.
For the position, we require the following qualifications:
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs from floor to shoulder and walk and/or stand for extended periods of time (up to 4 hours)
- At least 1 year of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, and/or experience in the medical, human service, or special education field
- Ability to pass criminal background checks (MO Family Care Safety Registry and Motor Vehicle)
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (Required before program start date, May 31, 2022)
Driving Requirements preferred:
- Have a reliable, personal vehicle (i.e. at least 4 seat belts, and working heating/cooling, etc.) to transport participants to activities
- Valid Auto Insurance Policy
- Valid Driver’s License (Class E or equivalent required before program start date, May 31, 2022)
