About the Operations Manager, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival Role:


BRIC seeks an Seasonal Operations Manager, BCBF who will oversee venue operations working with the Executive Producer, Director of Production and Festival Producer to implement processes & procedures focused on staffing, vendor relations, and safety. This role will oversee FOH team leads and daily operations for BRIC’s Celebrate! Brooklyn Festival at the Lena Horne Bandshell in Prospect Park.


The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic people-person with experience managing staff. We are looking for someone with a positive outlook who can get the job done, while also creating and maintaining a friendly, collaborative and welcoming environment for staff and patrons alike. A successful candidate for this role can demonstrate conflict resolution and team building skills, exhibits mastery in Google suite and excel, and has experience with event logistics and planning, vendor management experience, and familiarity with venue open and closing procedures. Experience with festivals/outdoor events is a plus.


What You’ll Do in the Role:


The Seasonal Operations Manager will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Executive Producer, BCBF:


  • Directly supervise front-of-house Crew Heads (Front of House Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, Site Coordinator, Green Team Leader)
  • Participate in on-site training for all part-time and seasonal staff prior to season start
  • Oversee all vendor relations, acting as day-to-day contact for all vendors & concessionaires.
  • Work with the Producer to implement safety policies and protocols, including Covid-19 related precautions.
  • Oversee all IT needs on site in collaboration with BRIC’s IT department and the Director of Production
  • Oversee site build (May) with Director of Production and Production Supervisor
  • Oversee the Site Coordinator, ensuring repairs are made in a timely manner

Physical Demands:

As this is an in-person, events based role, there will often be physical demands may include but are not limited to;

  • Moving / Carrying objects of approximately 25lbs
  • Fast-paced environment working approx 20-22 performances
    • Quickly crossing festival grounds for various needs and communication with team leads
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment for long hours during shows
    • Rain or shine events (except for cases of extreme weather)

  • Experience & Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
    • 5+ years’ production / management experience in large-scale events, performance venues and/or in hospitality.
  • Communication & Relationship Building: An emotionally intelligent, values- and results-driven leader who can inspire staff and collaborate across departments and at all levels of the organization, and provide feedback and coaching to support the achievement of goals. Highly skilled communicator and relationship builder, both individually and with large groups.
  • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the Performing Arts and or Hospitality function.

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: The rate of pay for this position is $30/hr
  • Status and location: This is a seasonal, exempt role. Work location will be hybrid until festival pre-season when the work will take place at the Lena Horne Bandshell at Prospect Park. The time commitment for this position is expected to be part-time 3 days (24 hours) /week from March-April and full-time (40 hours)/week) from May-August.
