Position Summary:
The Scrum Master role will be responsible for successfully leading the teams through our continued adoption of Agile/Scrum and promoting our shared values and culture to ensure our practices improve and mature.
Responsibilities:
The Scrum Master is a dedicated team member responsible for enabling and promoting both high-performing Scrum teams and an effective Leadership team.
Responsibilities include:
- Adheres to published Stratus culture and expected behaviors, and promotes that culture within the organization
- Enforces Rules of Scrum (DoD, Roles, Ceremonies, Artifacts), practices and process
- Ensures effectiveness of all ceremonies: prepared and engaged Scrum teams, prepared and effective Leadership team
- Creates, maintains, and shares relevant metrics and charts that are important to the success of the team and its delivery, and to help with continuous improvement
- Promotes and advocates a culture of continuous improvement, setting goals and milestones and being accountable for them
- Facilitates discovery and removal of obstacles
- Helps teams identify and manage dependencies and risks
- Maintains an awesome and effective Scrum Room environment if the team is meeting in person
- Creates tools and processes to facilitate on-line and remote participation in Scrum ceremonies
- Ensures the team is focused on Sprint commitments and helps shield the team from distractions, scope changes and hidden work
- Promotes a culture of collaboration and swarming within Scrum teams
- Collaborates with Leadership teams to ensure team success
- Runs regular Retrospectives, tracks results and helps promote any required improvements
- Ensures manager engagement to resolve team issues
- Ensures there is adequate backlog and the Scrum team is prepared for upcoming work
- Shares team experiences, solutions and education with peers (scrum masters)
- Continuous self-education and growth on Agile topics and brings fresh ideas to the teams
Experience:
- Experience partnering with US-based Product Management, Engineering and Services to drive product through development process and into production.
- 5+ years of relevant scrum master experience with a strong track record teams through multiple customer release cycles
Skills:
- Servant Leader with a passion to help Agile teams thrive and deliver high value products
- A great attitude & demeanor (Enthusiastic, positive, humble, social, organized, confident, patient, articulate, punctual, empathetic and fearless).
- Champion for Agility and possess deep knowledge of Scrum
- Experience coaching and educating team members on Agile and Scrum practices
- Focus on value delivery & frequent delivery of working software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong facilitation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with product owners, team members, management and other Agile teams to achieve product delivery goals
- Builds and maintains Scrum rooms
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent required
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM 1) certification (or equivalent) is preferred
