Job Description

The Scrum Master will have responsibility for maximizing the ongoing performance of a cross-functional team and delivering high-quality business driven solutions. You will work with the team to drive delivery of on-time, on-budget digital solutions meeting market demands. This individual is responsible for creation, tracking, and management of the agile delivery plan based on the methodologies most appropriate to the initiative and the team. In addition, this individual is responsible for the timely and effective communication to key stakeholders throughout the organization.

The Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating agile ceremonies and discussions among development and customer team members. The Scrum Master is responsible for coaching the team on the Scrum processes and removes impediments for the team. Scrum Master activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate scrum meetings: The Scrum Master shall coordinate and facilitate scrum meetings, such as, Sprint planning, Prioritized Backlog, Daily Standup, Sprint reviews and Sprint Retrospectives and provide just enough records.
  • The Scrum Master shall lead the scrum team in using Agile methodology and scrum practices.
  • Team Performance and Metrics: The Scrum Master works with product leadership and the team to define relevant metrics that are formulated and utilized for meeting project objectives.
  • Team Coordination: The Scrum Master shall plan and coordinate activities and schedule for the team on the Scrum processes. The Scrum Master will work with the Product Owner ensuring the Product Backlog is optimize in alignment with the delivery process.
  • Communicate and collaborate with business leaders to define strategic and tactical technical solutions for their business units.
  • Confer with business unit and Stakeholders, IT department managers and representatives to ensure projects are meeting defined business objectives.
  • Manage Sprint execution, coordinate all involved internal and external parties and monitor consistency with the Sprint plan and approved changes, to cost efficiently realize Sprint plan and satisfied customers with minimal risks.
  • Collect and analyze data regarding the performed activities in comparison to the Sprint plan and timetable.
  • Deliver input and implement improvements to the development process, tools, techniques, and procedures.
  • Maintain Scrum procedures, systems, and methodologies, to contribute to consistent and high-quality Scrum governance and audit. At the same time, contribute to the improvement of the capability maturity level.
  • Identify and manage the scrum team on a day-to-day basis by pro-actively addressing issues and risks to deliver the products at the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and costs.
  • Lead the scrum and development teams in self-organization. Help the scrum team achieve higher levels of scrum maturity.
  • Ensure successful hand-over of the products into DevOps, Product Management, and other departments to support the achievement of the business benefits.
  • Manage customer and stakeholders’ expectations in coordination with respective Relationship Manager and Business Solutions members.
  • Works with Agile coaches and other Scrum Masters to grow within the role.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Computer Information Systems or a related field.
  • CSM certification required.
  • Certifications/education in SAFE a plus.
  • Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  • Experience working directly with external customers.
  • 5+ years of overall experience as of part of web-based software development project teams.
  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach. (Examples: numerous burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling defects, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in techniques to fill in gaps in the scrum. Ability to determine what is scrum and what is not.


Work Environment:

  • This position is based in Boulder. We are open to remote candidates if the fit is right.
  • Moderate to high noise levels (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, moderate traffic)
  • Ability to sit or stand (standing desk provide upon request) at a computer terminal for an extended period


Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate (talk/sign/type/write) and operate a computer, telephone (or alternative), keyboard (or typing device), etc.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required
