JOB SUMMARY:

The Scooter Coach position is an integral part of the camper's experience, providing a dynamic platform that is unmatched. You will execute and support all aspects of the program, including overall curriculum and appropriate use of facilities. The goal is to ensure a high level of training and progression, making sure campers are engaged and participating in a responsible manner.

The Scooter Counselor will be responsible for the safety, health, and well-being of all campers within their assigned cabin from the time they return to the cabin for the evening to when campers are released to instruction the following morning.

You must be willing to evolve and adapt with the needs of the business and adhere to and support all work protocols and guidelines regarding COVID-19.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coaching

o Responsible for completing goal and progression sheets throughout the week for your instruction group of 6-8 campers

o Evaluate camper skill levels based on criteria and discuss progression comparisons, providing feedback to campers for ongoing skill development.

o Participate/conduct in a maximum of 15 (fifteen) sessions throughout the week, including mandatory instruction, zone coaching, overnight counseling, and recreation activities as assigned.

o Attend two staff training clinics per week, in addition to facility and equipment training.

o Assist with sport events and programs as assigned.

o Conduct daily reporting and recording of incidents, accidents or rule violations to direct supervisor(s).

o Execute routine daily maintenance and cleaning for all facilities.

  • Counseling

o Assist campers in daily routine including chores and overall cabin/surrounding area cleanliness.

o Take attendance with required night supervisor sign-off and enforcement of lights out.

o Attend and participate in staff training to acquire knowledge for behavior management techniques, emergency evacuation procedures, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • Experience

o Must have 1+ years of experience working with kids and/or teens.

o Experience working in a camp environment is preferred.

o High school degree or equivalent preferred

  • Health and Safety Certifications

o Darkness to Light Certification

o SafeSport Certification

o Pennsylvania Mandated Reporter Certification

o NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification

o NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certification

o NFHS Student Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Certification

o NFHS Heat Illness Prevention Certification

  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Has the ability to implement ideas.

BASIC SCHEDULE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must successfully pass a background screening to ensure suitability of contact with minor children and the public, in accordance with federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
  • Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working in an outdoor and indoor all-season environment.
  • Adhere to all workplace safety practices, expectations, and guidelines.
  • Camp Attendance Requirements:

o Summer Camp Season (June 6th - August 28th)

o Preferred minimum 4-week commitment within Summer camp season.

  • Lodging & Food

o Three daily meals are provided as part of employment.

o Staff housing will be provided during employment.

  • Provide work related references upon request.
