The QC Scientist I/II/III performs the analysis on allergenic and client components, raw materials, intermediates, and finished products following written procedures, providing the data required to determine raw material/product disposition. Essential responsibilities include:
- Analyze raw materials, in-process product, or finished product according to established procedures and as directed by the Supervisor.
- Record results and other salient data in the prescribed manner to meet regulatory requirements and provide information basic to product disposition and shelf-life projections.
- Perform experiments to assess product or procedural problems under the direction of the Supervisor. Assist in other forms of troubleshooting as directed.
- Prepare reports on new or ongoing product quality control testing for management as directed by the Supervisor.
- Complete core QC training per procedures.
- Adhere to the pertinent aspects of plant safety programs and in keeping with GMP’s or other regulations.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment to assure accuracy and confidence in performance.
- Perform special assignments as directed by Supervisor.
The Scientist III also demonstrates leadership, teamwork, and technical experience. Essential responsibilities include:
- Create new procedures as needed.
- Participate in direct internal and/or external client interactions.
- Demonstrate QC leadership within the department and outside the department as needed.
- Demonstrate technical expertise.
- Suggest pathways for improvement of processes and procedures, and suggest resolution on issues such as unexpected results.
Qualifications:
Scientist I: Bachelor’s Degree in hard science (no experience required) – OR - Associates Degree in hard science + 5 years related experience required . (The candidate may substitute 2 years of specific laboratory experience for AA hard science emphasis, so long as an Associate’s degree has been achieved).
- Manual dexterity required.
- Microsoft Word, Excel experience required.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, exposure to allergens, repetitive activity, prolonged sitting and standing.
Scientist II: Bachelor’s Degree in hard science + 2 years related experience – OR - Associates Degree in hard science + 7 years related experience required.
Scientist III :
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related hard science required.
- A minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience required and 3 years of pharmaceutical experience desired.
- A minimum of 3 years related experience required. (1 year related experience is required with a Master Degree in a hard science.)
- Ability to utilize scientific literature, and create effective written and oral reports that are clear, accurate, and logical, with a minimum level of oversight.
