Position Overview:
We are seeking a Scientist to be part of a team focused on cell and genome engineering in the Genomic Medicine Unit. The successful candidate will play an important role to support the activities around various projects that involve genome editing technology as an approach for treatment of common or rare diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
Specifically, the remit of the candidate will be to:
Technically support genome editing team.
Experiment and develop techniques for successful editing of various cell types (including technologies such as nucleofection and electroporation with various editing).
Evaluate target editing using various types of analysis to evaluate mRNA and protein expression (including FACS (experience with ACEA Quanteon and/or CyTek Aurora is a bonus), alpha-LISA and other applicable technologies).
Evaluate and develop next-generation RNA-based tools to deliver genome engineering tools to diverse cell populations
Design and work with cell culture systems to evaluate function of edited cells.
Collaborate across teams within the GMU.
Acts as an impactful contributor in different projects in the group.
Incorporates strong research integrity practices.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree plus minimum 6 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR Master’s Degree plus minimum 3 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR PhD. No Post doc experience required, but will be considered.
Prior experience involving genome editing applications required, including editing of primary human T cells and NK cells. Experience editing other primary cell types is a bonus.
Experience with next generation sequencing application is a plus.
Driven and results-oriented, with a track record of contribution to research projects
Demonstrated ability to work well under supervision and to deliver well curated results on time
Good written and oral communication skills.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.
