The Position

Arrowhead is seeking a Scientist to join our growing Biology Department at our new San Diego site. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize, contribute and advance the ideal candidate’s laboratory skills in a progressive, state-of-the-art and diverse facility.

Responsibilities

• Develop and perform in vitro cell based and ex vivo assays
• Analyze, curate and report data to the project team in a timely manner
• Read and apply relevant scientific literature to projects to troubleshoot and solve problems
• Perform gene expression and functional analysis by various methods
• Contribute to the identification and development of new assays to support target identification and validation
• Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab and perform critical experiments

Requirements:

• BS (6+ years) or MS (2+ years) industry experience in cell-based assay development in the context of drug discovery
• Expertise in mammalian cell culture preferably in neuroscience
• Proficiency in basic cell and molecular biology techniques, with emphasis on RNA isolation, qPCR, transfection, cell-based assays, ELISA and Western blotting
• Excellent record keeping and experience in data analysis, graphing and presentation
• Ability to work independently and to handle multiple projects and deadlines
• Demonstrated innovation, creativity and resilience in problem solving
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Self-motivated team player with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary, matrixed environment
