Provides certified law enforcement duties for an assigned school campus of the Broward County Public Schools District. Work includes, but is not limited to, campus patrol, crime prevention, crime detection and investigations, and traffic control. The SRO program is a community-based, collaborative school policing and law enforcement initiative that provides all county public schools campuses with professionals that serve as role models having all duties of law enforcement and powers of arrest. Work is performed under minimal supervision with considerable latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position relies on experience to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.
The City of Hallandale Beach is currently accepting applications for School Resource Officer Part-Time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Four years prior law enforcement experience
- Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (levels to be determined by job classification requirements).
- Must have state of Florida Police Officer certification through the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC).
- Must have a valid Florida driver's license and satisfactory driving record throughout employment.
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Applicants who demonstrate they meet the minimum requirements may be subject to an extensive selection process and screening program, which may include, but not be limited to, evaluation of training and experience, background investigation; medical evaluation; controlled substance screen.
Applicants are required to sign an affidavit for non-use of tobacco products in order to be considered for employment.
Veteran's Preference:
Preference will be given to certain veterans, spouses of veterans, or un-remarried widows/widowers of veterans. Proof of veterans' eligibility must be provided at time of application. EOE M/F/D/V.
Required Proof: (a) Shall furnish a Department of Defense document, commonly known as form DD-214 or military discharge papers, or equivalent certification from the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), listing military status, dates of service and Character of Discharge. Spouses of disabled Veterans shall also furnish either a certification from the Department of Defense or the DVA that the Veteran is totally and permanently disabled or an identification card issued by the Department; spouses shall also furnish evidence of marriage to the Veteran and a statement that the spouse is still married to the Veteran at the time of the application for employment; the spouse shall also submit proof that the disabled Veteran cannot qualify for employment because of the service-connected disability. (b) Spouses of persons on active duty shall furnish a document from the Department of Defense or the DVA certifying that the person on active duty is listed as missing in action, captured in line of duty, or forcibly detained or interned in line of duty by a foreign government or power; such spouses shall also furnish evidence of marriage and a statement that the spouse is married to the person on active duty at the time of that application for employment.

The City makes available a deferred compensation plan (ICMA 457 plan), for which the employee may voluntarily contribute to on a pre-tax basis. No employer contributions are made.

The City offers two Flexible Spending Accounts through WageWorks, which provide pre-tax savings for employees. One plan covers dependent care and the other provides for medical reimbursement. Employees may set-up a flexible spending account during the annual Open Enrollment period only.
