Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Key responsibilities of the position are to: Greet and assist patients in a friendly and helpful manner with general questions related to coverage and office protocols. Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information on line. Collect patient insurance coverage information. Schedule, cancel, reschedule and coordinate patient appointments upon request. Collect patient data as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma (or equivalent) required
- Ability to type a minimum of 31 WPM, pass a clerical and ten key test required
- Fundamentals of business communications, general computer experience required
- Requires:
- Experience with Windows-based computer operating systems
- Ability to apply good judgment in a variety of emergent and sensitive situations
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with internal and external customers
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, using time wisely
- Ability to take instructions and follow establish guidelines
- Ability to work under conditions that are ever changing with frequent interruptions and flexible hours
- Ability to maintain accurate, legible and complete records
- Visual and auditory acuity
Must provide a typing certificate
- One (1) year of experience in a medical office practice, including business and scheduling functions, preferred
- Knowledge of insurance and billing, IDX system experience is preferred
- Medical terminology preferred
