Job Description

Must be able to descend vertical surfaces while wearing a harness and carrying equipment; and have six months experience working at great heights.

Duties Description

Under the direction of the Statewide Scaling Coordinator, the incumbent will perform skilled rope access tasks. Tasks will involve working at heights to maintain cliff faces across the state. The incumbent will be responsible for scaling and maintaining cliff faces using tools and safety equipment; inspecting the cliff face; setting up anchor and belay systems; belaying scalers from drop locations; spotting work operations from outside of the hazard zone and keeping the public out of areas being scaled; cleaning and removing material dropped on trails from the scaling operation.

OPERATIONAL NEED:
Applicants must be physically able to perform heavy physical labor.
Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license as a term and condition of employment.
Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons.
Must be able to work a variable work schedule and will be required to work weekends and hours as needed.
Must be able to travel.
Must possess up to date certification of CPR/AED and First Aid.
Must have experience and knowledge of the Scaling operation.
This position is temporary. Scaling duties will be performed between April and October.
