Bargaining Unit: Grand Rapids Educational Support Personnel Association (GRESPA)

Pay Rate: Determined by the collective bargaining agreement

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Manager/Satellite Kitchen is responsible for the efficient and proper operation of their assigned food service area.

JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assure nutritious and attractive meals are prepared and served daily in a friendly and timely manner in accordance with the central menu prepared by the Nutrition Services Supervisor.
Supervise kitchen personnel.
Train new employees. Assign their work and check their work by observation of performance and inspection.
Maintain all records requested by the Nutrition Services office.
Determine food and non-food quantities required for purchasing.
Place orders for food and non-food items with outside vendors and Nutrition Center.
Inspect and check-in all incoming stock.
Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in the food service area.
Attend meetings conducted by the Food & Nutrition Services Director & Supervisors, workshops, and general meetings in order to increase knowledge and efficiency.
Assist in special event catering or banquets.
Monitor and deposit daily receipts.
Assist in promotional and merchandising activities in the food service area.
Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents and the community in a positive, supportive and cooperative ways.
Perform any other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required.
Must be in possession of a nationally recognized Food Service Certificate (active).

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality.
Cooking and/or baking experience or the ability to learn.
Ability to work well with students and staff.
Ordering/inventory/cash handling ability.
Willingness to promote and merchandise in a positive manner.
Knowledge of proper sanitation and food handling procedures and the ability to train others.
Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of a team.
Demonstrated leadership/training ability.
Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment), taste and smell. The employee must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds on a regular basis and must have the ability to bend easily at the knees and stand for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
