Responsibilities
- Lead a team of five plus DevOps Engineers
- Provide technical leadership for automation projects and mentor other engineers in best practices
- Develop, test, and deploy Infrastructure as code (IaC) that will automate the configuration and management of our cloud environments (Linux and Windows)
- Coordinate the work of both internal and external engineers, to build automation solutions
- Work with multiple groups within the company to establish schedules, priorities, and staffing requirements necessary to develop automation
- Analyze current technology and processes in use and recommend improvements
- Document automation solutions with all details required for implementation
- Produce documentation about automation solutions suitable for customer review and also for sales presentations
- Providing daily automation development through scripting to ensure all system technical requirements are addressed
- Develop tooling and improve processes to automate monitoring, metrics collection and analysis
- Implementing self-service tooling to improve team operations and management of the infrastructure
- Participate in team code reviews and design reviews
- Handle multiple work streams across multiple engagements
- Planning future phases of and supporting customer deployments and environments
- Manage systems availability, administration, configuration and compliance
- Help triage and resolve issues in the infrastructure
Essential Skills, Characteristics, & Experience
- Direct experience providing technical and people management of a DevOps or development team of three or more
- Active Secret or ability to obtain
- Current Security+ certification or ability to obtain within six months of start
- Current Linux certification (LPIC-2, RHCSA, SCA, etc.) or ability to obtain within six months of start
- Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment of technical solutions leveraging cloud services and features
- Expert in Linux/Unix troubleshooting and log file forensics
- Expert with Shell Scripting (Bash, Korn, C)
- Expert with Perl, Python, PHP, Ruby, or another interpreted language
- Experience with scripting in a Windows environment to query and manage components like the registry and services
- Experience with Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or another server/configuration management tool
- Experience with Jira or similar tools
- Experience with Git and with Git workflows including tagging, branching, and integration with other tools such as Jira
- Experience with Jenkins including creating jobs, running scheduled builds, running scheduled and ad-hoc integration tests, and integrating Jenkins with other tools
- Experience with UI testing tools like Selenium or similar tools
- Experience with testing frameworks like Pytest for Python or Junit for Java
- General experience with cloud environments such as AWS and Azure
- Experience with AWS tools such as CloudFormation and CloudWatch and/or Azure equivalents
- Able to debug and resolve complex issues in cloud environments
- Security and detail-oriented methodology
- Demonstrable experience in Enterprise-level environments
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Ability to multitask with several customers, coworkers, and projects
- Self-motivated and able to work under pressure to deliver high-quality deliverables
- Contribute independently as well as in a team environment
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical as well as organizational skills
Preferred:
- AWS Devops Engineer or Microsoft DevOps Engineer Expert certifications
- Expert in Ansible
- Software development background with full stack experience
- Experience with Python 3
- Experience with Terraform
