SMITH is searching for an SAP Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) expert to help lead the design and implementation of scalable and engaging CPQ and eCommerce solutions for clients.

As a Technical Architect (TA) at SMITH, you’ll be counted on to do a few things. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and clients’ technical teams to develop and implement features and enhancements that enable end-to-end integration of our clients’ SAP CPQ and eCommerce offerings. You’ll be a technical thought leader and authority within the organization and a team player with exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills. As a TA, you’ll take the initiative to mentor our other talented CPQ team members.

The TA will play a significant role on our team, overseeing and defining how SMITH approaches CPQ implementations while directly supporting a team across projects. This role will interact with other members of the development and User Experience disciplines, including Full-Stack Developers, QA, Business Analysts, Creative Designers and Program Managers.

What you’ll do

• Outline and document SAP CPQ best practices and ensure the team is utilizing them
• Develop and document detailed technical specifications for projects
• Support the project team by ensuring they understand the project requirements and ensure quality
• Coordinate with other technical leaders across technical pillars (e.g. commerce, content, etc.) on holistic architecture and designs for multiple technology solution implementations
• Conduct code and design reviews for the CPQ team along with assisting with the build when necessary. You will own the overall CPQ design
• Work with Solution Architects, other platform Technical Architects, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and other Developers to estimate the level of effort required to implement assigned work packages
• Develop, customize, and debug certain items requiring an expert skill level
• Lead, coach, and mentor team members

• Be a thought leader in CPQ technologies and space

• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability

• Able to shift between a functional and a technical focus depending on the project need and/or the type of project
• Identifies new opportunities for their client. Develops innovative ideas for account
• Participates in developing supporting proposal materials for pursuits with new clients
• Participates in scoping and planning work
• Write technical documentation (admin guides), white papers, presentations, and contributes to determining internal processes

What you bring

• Experience with REST and SOAP APIs and integrating SAP CPQ with 3rd party systems
• Experience with native SAP CPQ integrations
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot extremely difficult issues
• Demonstrated ability to spot gaps in requirements and design
• Demonstrated ability to translate customer business requirements to design solutions
• Demonstrated ability to think high-level at the overall solution as well as be able to figure out specific design features for SAP CPQ
• Experience with Iron Python coding and best practices around customizing SAP CPQ
• Experience with SAP Responsive Design and best practices
• Understanding of good design principles and ability to adhere to complex design specifications during implementation
• Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate and scope development work
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with the client as a trusted advisor
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong written & oral communication as well as presentation skills

• 6+ years overall CPQ experience with 3+ years being in SAP CPQ
• Understands the SAP architecture and roadmap and uses that information to determine the right solution
