Silgan Closures is seeking an experienced Sales National Accounts Manager to represent Silgan to a variety of major food and beverage processing companies that manufacture, and market national brand and private label food products distributed throughout North America and beyond. As a key member of the sales team, you will use your center of influence and strong interpersonal skills to expand relationships, resolve customer inquiries, negotiate, and collaborate with internal, cross-functional resources to provide unparalleled service to our customers. As a key contributor to our sales team, you will focus on relationship management, project management, and forecast/financial management. Silgan’s customer-focused philosophy will require the majority of your time to be spent in a face-to-face environment with your customers.

What you’ll do:

  • Understand all pertinent aspects of the customers’ organizations and collaborate with internal teams to achieve the highest level of customer service
  • Manage and support the technical efforts with Customer Technical Service and Customer Equipment Service to resolve account service and quality issues. Subsequently, advise senior management of financial considerations and assist with financial resolutions
  • Develop and implement key account plans to expand the scope of contacts within the customers’ organization which will influence Silgan’s overall account objectives
  • Improve business earnings and cash flow through price implementation, cost reduction, volume mix change, plus slow-moving inventory, and receivable control.
  • Develop and implement a holistic supply chain cost savings plan with systems, products, services, and freight
  • Administrative responsibilities include accurate monthly and year-end sales forecasts, SG&A budget control, sales plan development, plus customer, competitor, and market share reports, as well as daily usage of CRM



Job Requirements:


What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in Sales Account Management
  • A home office within reasonable proximity to a major airport within the Midwest region
  • Exceptional problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively present information to a varied audience
  • Strong technical leadership and teamwork
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50%
