Company specializing in HVAC construction, installation and maintenance for the NY Tri-State area is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Safety Manager on a full time basis. With the guidance by the Company President, the candidate will develop, implement, lead and monitor activities related to Safety, environmental issues and safety of personnel and compliance with OSHA, local and state laws.
Description:
- Plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs, requiring application of engineering principles and technology, to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions for the three business entities
- Conduct general safety orientation, and further training for specific working condition if needed.
- Develop the systems and procedures to help prevent illness, injury or property damage from occurring in the workplace.
- Managing Material Safety Data Sheet Manual, instruct employees on safety handling, using and storing chemical materials.
- Apply knowledge and judgment to keep company activity under compliance of up-to-date laws, regulations, and industrial standard.
- Apply engineering knowledge and critical thinking to investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases. Conduct risk management to determine the causes and preventive measures.
- Site inspection for possible facilities, machinery hazard, or safety equipment failure. Identify and correct potential hazards and unsafe working habit to ensure safety regulation compliance.
- Read Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning schematics and technical drawing, combine with on-site observation to identify possible designing or practical engineering mistakes that may cause safety hazards for workers or the public.
- Reporting and filing for accident investigation, site inspection observation and regular safety report from job sites. Communicating with site safety manager, fire safety manager and company management to provide a safe and healthful working condition for all employees.
Qualification:
- Bachelor/Master Degree in Safety Management or related field
- Ability to multi-task, work in a fast pace environment
- Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience in Safety for a construction company, minimum of 3 years
- Must be able to travel between job sites on a daily basis
