The Sales Distribution Center (“SDC”) Safety Manager will be responsible for partnering with the SDC operations team in multiple locations (10+) to execute company safety policies, train employees in key safety protocols and assist in compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging Cambria Core Safety Rules & Cambria BeSAFE program, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our Employees. A successful SDC Safety Manager will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the SDC Operations Team and inspire change by providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
The SDC Safety Manager must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You will coordinate with other Safety Managers on the Cambria safety policies and assist the SDC operations teams in incorporating our safety standards at the SDCs. You will work to identify best practices, assimilate Cambria best practices and incorporate these standard methodologies into the SDC standards to continuously improve the safety landscape. The SDC Safety Manager will possess excellent safety program knowledge as well as environmental and ergonomic knowledge and be able demonstrate this expertise when working with SDC Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and company policy.
- Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Cambria Safety Policies.
- Measure SDCs’ performance against published requirements in safety policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
- Deliver on-time and quality projects to Operations.
- Analyze safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to rationalize the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest.
- Perform frequent safety audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site. Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury at other SDCs.
- Audit record-keeping practices and Global Safety Database (Safety Report) entries to be aligned with global safety standards and local regulations.
- Audit the workplace organization and Employee behaviors to ensure that training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
- Spend time at the distribution centers and seek input from Cambria Safety team members, Employees and SDC leaders on safety program improvement opportunities. Ensure open communication on status of progress and resolution against these suggestions.
- Ensure SDC leadership and Employees are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy. Audit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required safety training.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate Safety Profession/Graduate Safety Professional
- Certified/Associate Safety Professional, a plus
- Safety experience in the manufacturing field
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Requirements:
- Sales Distribution Center or Manufacturing Safety experience with mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 25 people preferred.
- Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies.
- Demonstrated success in managing multiple sites/remotely.
- Experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort collaborating with operations.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
- Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
- Proficient in Google suite of products and the use of pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics.
- 3-5 years relevant experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products
- Crane and forklift experience
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Basic math skills
- Mechanically inclined
- Industrial work experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, ergonomics or a related field required
Experience: 3+ years of growing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
Certifications: Certified Safety Professional preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to become certified in forklift and overhead crane operation
- Ability to become certified in Chemical Handling
- Ability to read and write in English to complete required documentation
- Basic computer skills, Google suite a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Push/pull 100 lbs.
- Stand on feet for long periods of time during a shift for up to 8 hours, with intermittent breaks
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by Cambria
- Participate in daily stretch and flex exercises
- Occasionally work in wet and/or humid conditions
- Work in a non-climate controlled environment
- Separate slabs using a separator tool (wedge) in both racks and A-frames
- Walk up and down steps multiple times throughout shift
- Bend over multiple times throughout shift
