Summary:

The Safety Accident Investigator is responsible for conducting post-accident investigations on Fort Myer Construction Corporation's (FMCC) job sites and any other places that apply for the purpose of collecting the facts, recommending corrective action to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future and to provide counsel and training to all parties involved. The Safety Accident Investigator will provide support regarding FMCC construction safety, awareness and compliance by facilitating, implementing, managing, and enforcing all FMCC construction safety programs, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

· Ability to respond to accidents and emergencies to perform accident investigations and root cause analysis.

· Assists project team with development of an action plan to prevent or reduce the chance of a re-occurrence of the incident.

· Prepares comprehensive accident investigation reports, accident notifications, and other related documentation.

· Reviews the safety documents to ensure compliance with FMCC safety procedures, federal, state, local safety laws and regulations.

· Develops and analyzes data to identify critical safety issues surrounding frequency and identify trends of accidents that occur to FMCC construction projects.

· Attend various construction meetings to represent Safety issues and offer counsel.

· Distributes various safety advisories and topics.

· Audits field crews and projects on a random basis to identify safety concerns.

· Creates incident reports for distribution to designated management team members.

· Documents acceptable work practices and identifies areas for possible improvement.

· Performs comprehensive reviews of health & safety plans, safety questionnaires and all safety-related submittals by contractors and project staff.

· Collects information such as Police Reports and camera footage pertaining to incidents or accidents involving FMCC and its staff

· Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· OSHA Construction Industry 30 Hours certification or higher

· Demonstrate knowledge in fall protection, shoring and confined spaces

· CHST preferred

· 5 years of construction related experience desired.

· 2 – 3 years of investigator background experience desired.

· 2 years of full-time work experience in the identification, evaluation, and control of health and safety hazards desired.

· Practical working knowledge of OSHA, and MUTCD requirements, safety auditing, and accident investigation process.

· Must have a current and clean motor vehicle driver license valid in the Maryland, District of Columbia or Virginia.

· Must have a familiarity with Federal, State and local roadways of metro DC and the Maryland & Virginia counties surrounding District of Columbia.

· Must posse strong analytical, verbal, computer and written skills.

· Must have the ability to work a rotating schedule including Saturdays., and

· Ability to pass a pre-employment background, drug and alcohol test.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
