Job Description

Description: PURPOSE: The purpose of the Safety and Compliance Manager is to create an environment to prevent workplace accidents, promotes health and safety awareness and education to fellow employees to reduce accidents, injuries, and unsafe situations of the company and to meet our goal of zero accidents each year.

  • Develop and execute programs to promote a safer workplace
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of safety
  • Administer and develop a training program covering safety, OSHA and DOT
  • Coordinate site audits and inspections; OSHA, internal audits, and provide follow-up.
  • Facilitate and oversee the SOS Safety Committee
  • Oversee all accident / incident investigations as well as follow ups
  • Covid Compliance for the company
  • Mentor company management on safety processes and advise on best practices
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Complete other Safety related tasks as directed
  • Storm water compliance & training
  • Environmental Compliance Management
  • Trucking Compliance and Safety
  • Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety training

. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of experience.
  • 2 years’ experience in environmental health and safety or related field, and/or experience in the Trucking Industry
  • 2 years’ experience in management/leadership
  • Experience and understanding of accepted loss prevention and safety practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills
  • Great communication skills written and verbal
  • Ability to travel 15% with occasional overnight stays between our three locations
  • Experience with technical writing

Preferred Experience

  • 6 years’ experience in environmental health and safety or related field, and/or experience in the Trucking Industry
  • 5 years’ managing employees
  • Professional Certification in Industrial Safety, Transportation Safety, and/or Accident Investigation
