Sacred Music Director

Transfiguration is seeking a part-time Sacred Music Director. We are seeking a candidate to work cooperatively with the Pastor to implement a comprehensive vision for sacred music at Transfiguration. This includes, but is not limited to, planning music for liturgies, directing and overseeing choral programs, and training, scheduling, and supervising musicians. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in directing choirs and developing singers, and proficiency as an accompanist. Interest and experience in both English and Gregorian chant, sacred polyphony and traditional hymnody preferred. The schedule is flexible and will require 2-3 weekdays and Sunday mornings.

Job Qualifications: Qualifications 1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in music and vocal training. 2. Experience in directing choirs and developing singers, and proficiency as an accompanist. 3. Must be a practicing Catholic and demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of Catholic doctrine, along with a commitment to the mission of Transfiguration. 4. Extensive knowledge of Roman Catholic Doctrine and liturgical directives as defined by the Universal Church, the USCCB and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. 5. Demonstrated ability to apply theological principles of the Catholic Church in planning and leading liturgies. 6. Successfully complete the Essential 3 requirements – Virtus training, background check, and Code of Conduct. 7. Ability to communicate positively with Transfiguration parishioners, leadership, administration, and the broader community. 8. Ability to work in a team as a member of the Transfiguration Catholic Church and School staff, and actively promote the mission of the parish and school. 9. Computer skills that include the use of Microsoft products, email, and internet-based programs.
