RV Master Technician

We are looking to fill a full-time position as an RV Service/Lead Technician. RVs (campers, towable only) are mini homes on wheels, so this position requires knowledge, aptitude and experience in plumbing, propane, mechanical, structural, and a heavy focus with electrical, both AC and DC. This position does not specifically require RV experience, just experience with the different trades. Confidence is important, but so is humility. Our motto to anyone newly joining this business is “Look! Listen! Learn!” This basic idea will indoctrinate one to the Road Trip Camping way of doing business. We are all about excellent customer service, low pressure, and quality! The ability to learn and grasp new concepts is critical, as we work to stay on the cutting edge of new technologies. We work in a collaborative format and want team members to provide input, not necessarily just do a job as told. Production is important, so we always balance getting the job done in a timely manner with improving our products, services, systems and processes. We want to find someone that will grow with us as a company and is interested in a long-term invigorating career.

Our key criteria for any position with Road Trip Camping (RTC) is to always be honest, hard-working, team oriented, passionate, and promote the positive customer centric presentation to all customers and visitors to the business, absolutely no negativity is allowed! We are in the business of selling fun and recreation to our customers that takes them away from the daily grind of life. Therefore, we focus on positivity, customer service, and all-around fun. The products we sell and services we offer are important and how we generate revenue, but campers are vessels to the experiences and adventures the customers enjoy. So, we work hard to connect at this level with our customers and need everyone involved to present this same passion.

Beyond the experience noted above, the applicant must have a valid and current driver’s license with a good record. Towing and manipulating trailers is a big part of the position, so proficiency with towing is vital. We are very much open to hiring people with disabilities but also have specific physical requirements for this position. The applicant must be able to climb ladders, kneel down and stand back up readily and while holding some heavier objects (5-80 lbs.), lie down on his/her back to work on the underbelly of campers, lift heavy objects (80-250 lbs.) with assistance of others over one’s head, and generally be able to handle working outdoors regardless of weather. We do have interior bays to do much of the work inside but also do a lot of work outside in a wide range of weather conditions.

Some of the specific tasks are listed below:

· Performing Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) on camper trailers – a comprehensive inspection of all systems on the campers and performing any corrective service needed, as well as an overview of the camper at large to ensure the construction of it is sound and that any manufacturing defects are found and corrected.

· Assist in custom outfitting of the campers to include solar systems and inverters, rack systems for carrying gear, portable refrigerators, awnings, roof top tents, and more.

· Performing regular service and maintenance work on campers to include dirty work such as cleaning and re-greasing trailer wheel bearings, and repairing broken plumbing systems.

· Towing campers to and from outside vendor locations and shows.

· Cleaning and maintaining workspaces and organizing tools.

The schedule for this position is a four-day work week, Tuesday through Friday from 7 AM to 5 PM and provides a three-day weekend, except on occasional weekends where we are exhibiting at a show or event, which are scheduled and known about well in advance.

If hired, there will be a 90-day trial period where upon RTC will interview and observe the applicant to determine if he or she is a good fit for the position. If after 90 days, RTC and the applicant are happy with the potential, then the applicant will move into a secured status. Pay is by the hour and starting hourly rate is $15-$25, dependent on experience, and 40 hours weekly are guaranteed year-round. Periodically, overtime (time and a half) could be realized.

There is room for growth, both in higher positions and pay/benefit increases. We have a three-tiered technician structure. They are from lowest to highest: Service Technician, Lead Technician, and Master Technician. From this job listing, we are looking to fill either a Service or Lead position role.

RTC is a non-tobacco business, so smoking, vaping, and chewing tobacco are not permitted at any time during working hours, nor is the use of alcohol or illicit drugs.

We look forward to hearing from you and building a career together in a fun filled, positive, innovative, collaborative, and hard-working environment!
